Reimagine Your Rights

The Global Bill of Rights Project is a creator-led reimagining of the U.S. Bill of Rights for the world — a decentralized declaration of universal freedoms built and protected not by governments or treaties, but by artists and storytellers.

Instead of legal codification, these rights are enshrined through culture: songs that champion free speech, films that defend privacy, murals that demand due process, stories that affirm self-ownership. Each artwork spreads the principles virally, embedding them in the global consciousness where no authority can erase them.

By turning rights into shared myths, anthems, and memes, creators forge a living, resilient bill of rights — one cultural contribution at a time.

ARTICLE DECLARATIONS

Article 1: Life and Bodily Integrity

Right: Every person possesses inherent, inviolable dignity from conception to natural death.

Responsibility: Speak truthfully, correct falsehoods, and use words to build rather than destroy.

Adjudication: Lies that wound are retracted publicly; persistent deception forfeits amplified platforms until trustworthiness is rebuilt.

Article 2: Truth, Conscience, and Expression

Right: Freedom to seek truth, form conscience, and speak peacefully.

Responsibility: Speak truthfully, correct falsehoods, and use words to build rather than destroy.

Adjudication: Lies that wound are retracted publicly; persistent deception forfeits amplified platforms until trustworthiness is rebuilt.

Article 3: Equality and Mutual Honor

Right: Equal dignity and opportunity for all, without favoritism.

Responsibility: Honor the dignity of others through fair treatment and active inclusion.

Adjudication: Bias is corrected through education and restitution; privileges granted to lift the marginalized expire when equity is achieved.

Article 4: Privacy and Trust

Right: Personal boundaries and confidences are sacred.

Responsibility: Guard entrusted information and use data only for agreed good.

Adjudication: Breaches require full disclosure, compensation, and trust-rebuilding measures before privileges are restored.

Article 5: Movement and Hospitality

Right: Freedom to travel and find refuge from danger.

Responsibility: Welcome the stranger while honoring the common home.

Adjudication: False claims are met with swift return and barred re-entry; genuine refugees receive support contingent on peaceful integration.

Article 6: Justice and Mercy in Trial

Right: Fair, timely judgment with presumption of innocence.

Responsibility: Cooperate fully and speak only truth under oath.

Adjudication: Mercy tempers justice—first-time offenders offered restoration programs; repeat harm escalates consequences with clear path to redemption.

Article 7: Shared Governance

Right: Voice and vote in shaping the common good.

Responsibility: Serve the whole, not self; lead with humility and transparency.

Adjudication: Corruption triggers immediate removal, public accounting, and disqualification until public trust is demonstrably regained.

Article 8: Formation and Flourishing

Right: Access to truth-seeking education that nurtures mind and character.

Responsibility: Pursue learning with diligence and share knowledge generously.

Adjudication: Laziness or deceit in study forfeits advanced opportunity until effort and honesty are proven.

Article 9: Care for Body and Soul

Right: Basic needs met so all may thrive.

Responsibility: Care for one’s health and assist the suffering.

Adjudication: Neglect of preventable duty shifts priority in scarce resources; compassion guides allocation, never abandonment.

Article 10: Work and Rest

Right: Dignified labor, fair reward, and sabbath balance.

Responsibility: Work honestly and allow others their due rest.

Adjudication: Exploitation requires repayment with interest; idleness without cause forfeits support until contribution resumes.

Article 11: Heritage and Harmony

Right: Preserve identity while enriching the whole.

Responsibility: Celebrate diversity without division.

Adjudication: Hateful exclusion loses public funding; reconciliation ceremonies restore community standing.

Article 12: Stewardship of Earth

Right: A thriving planet as shared inheritance.

Responsibility: Tend creation with gratitude and restraint.

Adjudication: Waste or destruction mandates restoration—personal or corporate—scaled to damage; future access curbed until balance is redressed.

Article 13: Digital Commons

Right: Open, safe connection and fair technology.

Responsibility: Use tools to connect, not isolate or deceive.

Adjudication: Online harm follows offline logic—retraction, reparation, restricted reach until patterns of respect return.

Article 14: The Rising Generation

Right: Children are gifts, not property—entitled to protection and formation.

Responsibility: Raise them with love, discipline, and example.

Adjudication: Neglect triggers intervention with mandatory guidance; improvement restores full guardianship.

Article 15: The Triadic Covenant

  1. Rights flow from inherent dignity—never earned, never erased.
  2. Responsibilities are the active expression of that dignity toward others.
  3. Adjudication blends truth with mercy:
    • First: Teach and reconcile
    • Second: Repair and restrict
    • Third: Restrain and rehabilitate
Every sanction aims at restoration; every restoration strengthens the whole.
